Dear Imagine North Manatee Families,
We hope you are finding ways to enjoy your Spring Break while keeping your distance from large crowds and maintaining your sanity during this unprecedented time!
The safety of our Imagine North Manatee stakeholders is our top priority and we are confident that our bond as a school family will see us through the next few weeks of unexpected distance.
As you are probably aware, yesterday evening the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) published a press release announcing additional COVID-19-related changes to the 2019-2020 school year plans.
Currently, FLDOE guidelines require:
– Students’ return to campus has been delayed until Wednesday, April 15, 2020
– Distance learning will begin on Monday, March 30, 2020
– Florida’s Standardized Assessments (FSA, EOC, FCAT Science) have been cancelled
In response to the FLDOE’s latest guidelines and beginning on Monday,
March 23, 2020 Imagine North Manatee’s family of educators will:
-Begin working on Monday, March 23, 2020 to maintain continuity of instruction and plan distance learning
-Homeroom teachers will reach out to families on Monday, March 23, 2020 to touch base and identify any distance learning needs (lack of access to internet and/or technology). Teachers will communicate each family’s needs to the administrative team and we will prepare to check out materials to families in need.
-Educators and administrators will engage in professional development on distance learning platforms and resources, beginning on Wednesday, March 25, 2020
-Educators will post general lessons on Friday, March 27, 2020, and all specifics will be posted by 8:00 am on Monday, March 30th. Plans will be updated daily, whenever possible, and will be customized based on individual student needs and progress.
-Office and administrative staff will remain available to respond to calls and messages from families, prepare and distribute mobile learning devices and/or materials, and respond to other campus needs.
-Check out technology and materials to families in need no later than Thursday, March 27, 2020. Check outs will continue on Friday, March 28th.
-Custodial staff began their deep cleaning of our campus on Friday, March 13, 2020 and are currently ensuring no surface, nook, or cranny remains unsanitized. Our campus will be clean and ready to welcome students back as soon as we are permitted!
As we receive additional guidance from the FLDOE, we will keep you updated. Please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org, send a message through Facebook, or contact Principal Kelly through Class Dojo, if you have pressing question prior to staff’s return on Monday, March 23, 2020.
Note: Many of you have been in contact with your child’s classroom teacher. We always encourage you to use your child’s classroom teacher as your first contact. Just a reminder in this case, however, this is their scheduled Spring Break, so please be conscientious of the amount of time you spend communicating with them. Teachers have a hard time saying “no” and they will bend over backwards to help, but we want them healthy and well-rested to ensure they can be fully engaged in planning and delivering distance learning upon their return next week.
Please stay healthy and safe, and tell your children that their teachers
miss them greatly! We hope each Imagine North Manatee scholar has
access to books so they can read for
pleasure, 20 – 60 minutes per day!
