F.A.Q.'s
What is a charter school?
Charter schools are independently-operated public schools. Parents can choose to send their children to a public charter school outside of their “zoned” public school.
How much does it cost to attend Imagine?
There is no charge or tuition to attend a public charter school including Imagine School of North Manatee.
Will my children be as academically prepared as students in other schools?
Yes, perhaps even more so. While charter schools have flexibility in choosing curriculum and developing innovative teaching practices, charter schools must test students and report results, just like the government-operated public schools. At Imagine we track academic gains through fall and spring Stanford 10 testing.
What does Imagine have that other schools don't?
Imagine Schools create choice for parents and students.
We emphasize academic excellence & character development as the essential elements of life-long success.
We encourage innovative teaching practices that individualize learning according to the needs of each student.
We offer opportunities for parents to get involved in their children’s education.
The teachers and staff model and teach positive character attributes to students.
As a charter school, we have flexibility to find solutions to problems and continually improve.
What can you tell me about the schools’ curriculum?
From classical education to direct instruction, Imagine offers a wide variety of curricula and approaches – freedom with a framework of strong programs and accountability. As for particular curriculum selections, school leaders and their staffs have the freedom and flexibility to make decisions about a curriculum that best meets the students’ learning needs. More curriculum info here.
How do I enroll my child at Imagine?
Click here to be redirected to our online enrollment form. Once you have submitted your application a representative from the school will contact you by phone or email and let you know the next steps you will need to take. It is a very simple process.
Are the teachers at Imagine certified?
Every Imagine Schools’ teacher meets or exceeds state and federal teaching requirements. All of our teachers hold at least a Bachelor’s degree and must demonstrate competence in the areas they teach. Most importantly, we recruit and hire teachers who are committed to upholding Imagine’s Shared Values and Six Measures of Excellence for every student in the school. Our teachers are screened thoroughly and interviewed by the school’s principal and staff.
Does the school serve lunch?
Yes, we provide a hot, catered lunch for students in compliance with the National School Lunch Program. We also participate in Manatee Counties free and reduced price meals for those students who qualify. Click here to check out our lunch menu.
What is the dress code at Imagine?
Imagine students wear uniforms and follow a dress code. We find that simple, comfortable uniforms mark learning as a serious endeavor and minimize student competition and distraction regarding dress. Click here for more information about clothing requirements.
Do you have special education programs?
Yes. We provide services to any child with special needs with the goal of having the student become successful in regular classroom settings. Each child is evaluated to determine the most effective educational program we can provide, consistent with federal law. Click here to learn more.
Do you have BUS service?
Yes. The school currently has 5 bus routes every morning and afternoon. As a charter school our students are spread out over a very large area, so we can't offer door-to-door service, but we try to design our routes to cover the most area possible. Bus schedules and info may be found by clicking here.
Are parents allowed to participate in their child's education?
Not only are they allowed, but they are strongly encouraged. We could not survive without our parent volunteers. The school has a very active Parent Teacher Organization and we are always looking for chaperons, help in overseeing school events, and even some light office work. Send us an email or fill out the volunteer form at the school office.
